Proven Leadership, Broad Experience, Collaborative & Inclusive Approach, Able To Manage Constructive Change….
IEEE-SA has many strengths, including a strong legacy of innovation and leadership through standardization. We face a challenging world, including technology convergence, rapid innovation, speed of standardization and access to information. We have grown the IEEE-SA to strengthen its mission of service to humanity, broaden global participation, and include new technologies, while moving faster and more efficiently. We must continue to adapt to the world around us, working with the Institute’s Societies and Sections, to address all aspects of technology and related ethical issues through standards.
I bring a broad and diverse experience in standardization to the IEEE, coupled with a deep industry background. I am fortunate to work for a 167-year-old, publicly traded corporation that lives to its high values, operates on collaboration, and puts about 10% of the company’s annual revenues back into innovation, reinventing and renewing its products on an ongoing basis.
I have started my journey in standards work in IEEE, but also bring broad experience across many other standards organizations at the National, Regional and Global levels. With leadership experience in leading global standards programs, I would like use this experience to support and strengthen our work in IEEE standardization. Our standards work spans a broad range of applications and technologies so I also recognize that one size does not fit all. Instead, lets work together to build on the strengths and improve those areas we can to be ready for the technologies for the future and the potential we have to continue advancing technology for humanity.
I ask for your help and support to bring these experiences and skills to our work in the IEEE-SA as the SA President-Elect, to help the SA and the Institute to continue to evolve, while pursuing transparency, innovation, broader participation and sustainable finances to deliver the promise of the future through standardization.
Please cast your vote for IEEE SA President Elect for Jim Matthews between now and 1 October 2019. Please also tell your friends and colleagues to remember to vote as well. Thank you!
